My background in video production set me up for success in terms of process and flow for creating purposeful web products. From research and ideation stages (pre-production) to wire-framing and prototyping (production) to the coding and review processes (post-production), to launch.

Below are a couple of work samples where my role was somewhere between a project manager and a content specialist for the purpose of producing two campaign-based websites.

Campaign Website:

Con Líderes Hay Paz

Con Líderes Hay Paz is a campaign launched by the Washington Office on Latin America with the goal of supporting the work and protecting the lives of social leaders who are targeted for championing peace efforts in Colombia. Our vision was to create a fully bilingual space for resources and educational tools that would inspire advocates around this issue to take action.

We wanted to strike a balance between minimal and celebratory storytelling visuals, as the subject matter is very heavy, but the subjects and their communities are full of color, joy, and depth.

In my role, I worked closely with our Director for Digital Strategy to build a team consisting of a web developer and a web designer, and subsequently oversee the production of the campaign’s website.

Marrying my background in content production and my technical education in graduate school, I was able to communicate the needs and notes of all stakeholders in the process.

Campaign Website:

Mexico Disappearances

The Mexico Disappearances campaign by WOLA was aimed at a narrower audience: journalists and all actors working for criminal justice reform, especially in the context of disappearances in Mexico.

Contextually and visually-speaking, this project was a complete 180 to the Con Líderes Hay Paz campaign website. The subject matter focused on another bleak social issue, but one with less hope, as the justice system has systemically failed its people.

In this case, the numbers speak volumes. Our focus was on creating accessible data visualizations with clean iconography and limited photography.
